Efficiency evaluation of Amlodipine combined with N-acetylcysteine on Indomethacin-induced gastritis in rats

Introduction: It is a well-known phenomenon that nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs cause gastric mucosal damage. Amlodipine third generation dihydropyridine-type calcium channel blocker; it can inhibit inflammatory cytokines and enhance antioxidant defenses. N-acetylcysteine act both as precursor of reduced glutathione direct ROS scavenger. Moreover, has been purported to have properties.
 Materials methods: 34 albino Wistar rats were used. The model gastritis was induced by subcutaneous Indomethacin prepared in 5% sodium bicarbonate administered at dose rate 9 mg/kg for two days 24h intervals. (500 mg/kg), (10 mg/kg) combined with (5 administrated seven consecutive beginning 24 h after the first injection. Rats sacrificed under ether anesthesia on 8th day. stomach injury assessed macroscopic damage histological study.
 Results discussion: results showed scores caused administration did not significantly decrease alone (p>0.05), but decreased or its combination (p<0.05).
